Praying According to God’s Will
Praying According to God’s Will means aligning our prayers with what God desires and intends for us. The Bible provides you with many passages that can guide you in praying according to God’s will.
Below are some steps to help you pray according to God’s will
1. Begin with Worship and Thanksgiving
Start your prayer by acknowledging and praising God for who He is and what He has done for you. You can use verses like Psalm 100:4, which says, “Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.”
Exalt him by acknowledging him as the only wise God, recognizing the “Omni” nature of this our God. Reverence God’s Omnipotence, Omniscience, and Omnipresence nature. Our God, who is all-powerful, all-knowing, and present everywhere at all times.
2. Confess your sins and seek forgiveness
Before making any requests to God, it’s important to confess your sins and ask for His forgiveness. Use verses like 1 John 1:9, which says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”
3. Pray for God’s will to be done
Ask God to reveal His will for your life and to help you follow it. Use verses like Matthew 6:10, which says, “Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.”
3. Pray for wisdom and discernment
Ask God to give you wisdom and discernment to make wise decisions and to recognize His will for your life. Use verses like James 1:5, which says, “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”
4. Pray for your Family and siblings:
Pray for Divine Provision, quoting Philippians 4:19 “And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus”.
Pray for Divine Protection 13. Isaiah 59:19 So shall they fear the name of the Lord from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun.
14. Isaiah 41:10-12 “When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him”
Pray for Divine positions
Your word reminds me in Psalm 46:10 to “Be still, and know that I am God.” So, I ask that you quiet my heart and help me to trust in your sovereignty to position them at the right place and at the right time.
5. Pray for others
Intercede for others and their needs, asking God to help them according to His will. Use verses like Philippians 2:3-4, which says, “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.”
6. End with faith and trust
End your prayer with faith and trust in God’s goodness and sovereignty, knowing that He hears and answers your prayers according to His will. Verses like 1 John 5:14-15, which says, “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.”
By following these steps and using Bible portions, you can pray according to God’s will and experience the peace and joy that comes from aligning your prayers with His perfect plan for your life.
May God provide Wisdom and Understanding on our way to salvation
In Jesus’ Name. Amen
